First fully assembled aerospace gearbox assembly delivered by BMT Aerospace

​For the first time, BMT Aerospace is delivering a fully assembled gearbox to a customer.
The gearbox is part of a globally major engine program for business aviation and will be integrated into the engine of a private jet.

This milestone marks a clear evolution in BMT Aerospace’s scope, moving from the delivery of individual components to the delivery of a complete, flight-critical gearbox.

From components to aerospace gearbox assembly

Until now, BMT Aerospace supported aerospace engine programs mainly through high-precision gears, housings and shafts. With this project, the responsibility expands to the full aerospace gearbox assembly, including final integration and system-level validation.

The gearbox operates inside a business jet engine and plays a critical role in power transmission. Reliability, repeatability and controlled assembly are therefore essential throughout the process.

One gearbox assembly, three BMT Aerospace sites

What makes this project unique is the way it brings together all three BMT Aerospace production sites into a single, integrated manufacturing flow.

• Romania produces five precision gears
• Belgium manufactures two housing covers
• United States produces one shaft, the main housing, and performs the complete gearbox assembly

This setup demonstrates how BMT Aerospace operates as one organisation, with each site contributing its core expertise to a single end product.

Assembly as a strategic capability

Final assembly takes place at BMT Aerospace USA, where components from all sites are brought together into a fully functional gearbox. Delivering a complete assembly requires tight dimensional control, disciplined inspection processes and a deep understanding of how individual parts interact at system level.

Beyond machining accuracy, success depends on coordination between sites, controlled logistics and a shared quality mindset across borders.
